We in Singapore and Malaysia simply called it Glutinous Rice (糯米饭) but in Taiwan it is better known as Sticky Rice (油饭). Our local version typically has fried shallot and its oil plus topping of crunchy fried peanuts and chopped scallions. You can also add on fried luncheon meat, hotdog, fish fillet or even crispy fried chicken wing if you want an upsized meal.

Sis helped to buy takeaway dinners from Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) for both mum and me as we didn’t want to go out ourselves. I had the fragrant Fried Rice with Crispy Chicken Cutlet (脆皮鸡腿蛋炒饭) while mum had the usual wavy Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面).
